# Universal Basic Income

Last updated Sep 3, 2022

I’m writing this note while listening to Kurzgesagt video about Universal Basic Income(UBI). The points:

• labeled as the most ambitious policy of our time
• Some countries considering UBI as an alternative to welfare?
• Many definition, but it seems people can’t really agree how to define UBI
• UBI as an alternative to eliminate welfare and bad bureaucracy
• Others, want it as a free extra, and if possible to be as high as possible so WORK itself become optional.
• notes/Thoughts/Minimun Basic Income in U.S. is around $1,000 a month or$12,000 a year
• in Indonesia the number is much lower, according to BPS (Indonesia Statistic Bureau) it’s about Rp472.525, less than Rp500.000 or around \$33 us dollar
• The money you got from UBI wouldn’t be taxed and you could do whatever you wanted with it.
• in the notes/Thoughts/Minimun Basic Income scenario, UBI is a way of transferring the wealth of a society while still keeping the free market intact.
• There is a concern that the money will be used for luxury things and people will stop working, but
• a 2013 world bank study said that poor people doesn’t spend their cash on tobacco or alcohol Worldbankit is Stereotype.
• in contrary, the richer you are the more you spend on drugs and alcohol theGuardian

Poin yang bisa saya ambil:

• dicap sebagai kebijakan paling ambisius di masa sekarang.
